Increase of broken homes
Without temporary housing, families are at risk of being separated.
Increased risk of people becoming homeless
Temporary housing can often help people get back on their feet. Without a place to live they could loose their job then they become unable to afford housing.
New Beginnings
After, searching for resources regarding temporary housing it was discovered that nothing was available in Gilmer or nearby counties.
An effort was made to create a coalition of Churches to address this need.
Our Causes
What We Do
New Beginnings provides a home on a short term basis for participants who are working with a local church care group on an individualized plan for self-sufficiency.
We also provide volunteers to staff warming shelters when low temperatures occur. Currently, the location is at the Gilmer County Civic center.

We support over 40 individuals with temporary housing each year
Over 30 organizations have supported New Beginnings since it was founded.
Currently, there are 12 individuals representing these supporting organizations as Trustees of New Beginnings.
